I saw the oppo link about Consumer Reports and their WRX in the snow - and was surprised that most people think the auto-test guys are as boring as the toaster-test ratings.
Not so. In case people missed it, here's a link to last year's track tour that I got, with auto test director Jake Fisher driving me around the track in a Scion FR-S. And before you cry foul about the easy tires, it had Michelin Pilot Super Sports on...
We talked a lot off-camera, and even brought up Jalopnik. They guys working there are real gearheads, Jalopnik readers, and most of them degreed engineers. A lot of that gets distilled out in the ratings and publication, but I've seen it first hand.

How did he keep the back end out so long on those tires?! Looks like a lot of fun btw. I bet you enjoyed yourself.
